27 ADD/ADHD Audio Lessons

By Dr. Kenny Handelman

When I first created a newsletter on ADD/ADHD, I did it as an audio newsletter. Thousands of people have listened to it and provided feedback on how helpful it’s been for them.
I wanted to provide the links to them all in one place.
At this time, I’ve been writing new articles on this blog, and soon I’ll be launching my ADHD Video Podcast at ADHD.TV.
So, here’s my gift to you – 27 audio lessons for you.
Listen to one, or listen to them all.
Bookmark this page and come back – you can always refer to them again and again.
I hope you enjoy and benefit from them.
Best,
Dr. Kenny

I am just learning to use the computer so I hope I can figure out how to enjoy the info on 9/22. Anyway, my youngest son has ADHD and my oldest son has Asberger’s Syndrome. We have Autism Awareness magnets for our car but I little one wants to know why we aren’t “Aware” of him. I can’t find ANY nice ADHD products other then sort of derogatory ones. Does anyone know of a place I could order a car ribbon magnet or something that is possitive in a non-humorous way. Nothing that makes him look like he is going to forget or get distracted in the middle of his sentence. I want him to know (even though I tell him all the time) that we are aware of what he has and that makes him super. ADHD isn’t just a cold compared to his brother’s cancerous Autism. Its just as crippiling to him.
So, anyway, I am looking for a car magnet for my fabulous son. Hopefully someone knows where I can get one. THANX.

Dear Doctor: I have a 16 year old son who four years ago was on adderaol.. It made him lethargic and listless.. He did improve his behavior in school at that time.. I took him off it because I felt it was interfering with his physical ability to give his best at football. Now he is in high school and is not doing well in school at all.. of course he admits he can’t concentrate etc. and his teachers confirm this. My concern is weight loss and loss of appetite. His coaches are concerned even now (not being on anything for over three years I think) that he needs to gain weight, not lose any.. He is 5’11′ and weighs only 140 lbs. Hes skinny even though he’s a great football player, but we are all afraid to put him back on adhd meds because of these side effects. What do you suggest? We are really in a bind about this, of course if he can’t make his grades in school, football is out of the question. Please help..

  7. I am a 35 year old women who has had adhd since childhood. Growing up my parents put me in a place called Spectrum.I would go there in the morning until my parents gotoff work, they didnt want me at home alone… I was put on Ritilin and did very well, i could concentrate and not have the racing thought and the acting before thinking, or talking before thinking. I stopped taking my meds when I moved in with my mom she said I didnt need them however that is when I started using meth. so when i was on meds i didnt use drugs and when i came off my meds i used drugs i wound up in jail and in a lot of trouble. i have been at a christian based life recovery program and wasnt allowed to take adderall which i was currently on.So i tried something else intuniv. I have tried so many non stimulants and they dont seem to work. so since i am a drug addicts they think i am seeking getting high off medications and seem to think thats all iam searchig for because i have a history with drugs. i want to scream at them and tell them to live in my head for one day. they dont seem to understand that adhd medications dont get you high if you need them they work completely different then street drugs. when i used drugs i would give people my adhd drug because they didnt get me high. I get so angry when people who dont have adhd and they get on the web and all of a sudden they become doctors thingking they know whats best. I guess christian people are not suppose to take medications for adhd exspecially adderall or ritilin. they claim to know more then my adhd doctor and think there diagnosis out ways hers and thats what she does for a living. They want me to do research adderall and the effects or habit forming qualities it has. I have taking so many medications trying to find the one that works and adderall worked and each time i came off of it i didnt have withdrawl or side effects. it pisses me off when others think they know whats best for someone else.

    • Jamie,
Thank you for sharing your story. It is very hard when people are judging your treatment decisions based on mis-information and incorrect information. I hope you can find medications which work well for you – and that you are able to take them!
