ADHD Awareness Week - Free Teleseminar
ADHD Awareness Week is starting today. The official dates are: September 14-20, 2008.
This is a great opportunity for you to learn more about ADD and ADHD, and it’s also a great opportunity for you to help others to learn about ADD and ADHD. This will help with advocacy for all of us…
I have a number of free gifts for you, to honor ADHD Awareness Week.
The first free gift for ADHD Awareness Week is: I will be doing a free call with author Dr. Kevin Ross Emery.
‘Dr. Kevin’ is the author of the book: Managing The Gift: Alternative Approaches for Attention Deficit Disorder
Dr. Kevin was quite a leader in that he was the first author to publish about ADD being a gift. He also has an alternative perspective to ADD and ADHD, and will share his view of how to build on the strengths of ADD and ADHD.
Here are the details:
Date: Monday September 15th, 2008
Time: 8 pm Eastern Time (i.e. New York Time), 5 pm Pacific Time (i.e. LA time)
Duration: 60 minutes
Click here for the event page.
How to connect:
To participate in this call, you can either dial in on a telephone conference line (and you will likely incur long distance charges), or you can join via a ‘webcast’ - which will stream the audio through your internet connection.
Format:
This will be a 60 minute interview.
You will be able to submit questions via the online web form. We’ll aim to take some questions toward the end of the hour.
What if you can’t make it during the time of the call?
We will provide a replay of the call for a limited time after the event - for you to listen in, even if you couldn’t attend live.
To connect to the webcast or to get the dial in info, click here.
Have a great ADHD Awareness Week - and I hope to speak with you tomorrow night!
Best,
Dr. Kenny
p.s. watch this blog and your email address for more gifts for ADHD Awareness week
p.p.s. Now that the call has taken place, you can go to the ‘replay page’ to listen to it. You can access it here. But act now, the replay will only be up during ADHD Awareness week, and then it is coming down!

Hello there !
I appreciate this GIFT of ADD/ADHD information.
Question:
If I do miss this call,
Will the 1 hour talk with Dr. Kevin Ross Emery will be available as a podcast afterward?
Is that what you mean by ”replay” at another time?
I find the podcasts ultimately the very best archive of these sessions.
I listen to them to bone up and refresh, and they are always helpful to have around.
Thank you !

Hi Emily,
Thanks for your interest in the replay.
It will not be set up as a podcast.
(as an aside, give me about 2 more weeks, and then I’ll launch the first ADHD video podcast at http://www.adhd.tv!!)
However, you can listen to or download the audio on this page - but only during ADHD Awareness Week.
So go there today:

I enjoyed the replay. I was able to listen while I was getting my classroom ready for Back to School Night. It has been a switch to think of my AD/HD as a gift. In addition, two out of my three children have AD/HD and it has been more difficult to deal with their gifts, especially in the mornings. I liked Dr. Kevin’s explainations and suggestions for dealing with children and adults. I will be trying many of these suggestions with my children, students and myself.
Thank you

Thanks for having the replay available. Just a few comments.
On the comment about the person with ADD having so much going on in their own brain that they miss the social cues etc. other things going on in the external world I just want to say that is so very true. As an adult with ADD, before diagnosis when others commented on some of those things I totally missed I often wondered what was wrong with me that I was so oblivious to things that were so obvious to others. Post diagnosis, with medication, and treatment, I’ve learned that those things are not so important. Surely, there are times when it’s important in some circumstances to attend to those cues i.e. when you area at the airport and need to attend to the calls for boarding so you don’t miss your flight, but its not important for me to pick up those external things all the time. I guess I’d say it is a combination of acceptance and coping. I don’t let it bother me that I often miss a lot of those external things others see so obviously, and I’ve learned to recognize for the most part the situations where I need to attend to those external cues more.

I just wanted to ask you about this new thing on the News today saying with new research that the Health people are recommending that we not use Ritalin on our ADD kids (unless thy are severe cases and we have tried evey other option.) I’d really appreciate your opinion on this . Thanks alot!
