ADHD in 2007… Looking to 2008
ByAs a reader of this blog, I wanted to wish you the best for 2008.
I value you and appreciate that you are a reader.
Happy New Year!
At this time of year, I often reflect back on the previous year and
make plans and goals for the next one.
Notice I didn’t say ‘new year’s resolutions’?
New year’s resolutions often only last until January 2nd.
‘Plans and Goals’ can last the whole year through – if you follow three simple steps.
1) Set your goals and plans
2) Write them down (in a journal, or on a paper that you put on your wall – i.e. not a scrap that will get lost!)
3) and then review them throughout the year
Although this is very simple – it is a plan to achieve great results.
Use it to improve your life, and your (or your child’s) ADD/ADHD.
I wanted to share some of my reflections on 2007…
1) In the world of ADHD:
- the US got Vyvanse – the first prodrug for ADD/ADHD
- the FDA announced that there would be a large study done on the cardiovascular risks of
ADHD medications
- statistically, tens of thousands (if not hundreds of thousands) of people were newly diagnosed
- the press continued to create mayhem and spread misinformation about ADD/ADHD throughout the year
2) In my work:
- This blog provided up to date and accurate information on ADD/ADHD to over 100,000 unique internet
visitors from all over the world
- I started my membership site: ADHD M.O.R.E. (if you haven’t joined yet, I will be reopening it for
new memberships in early 08)
- With the help of the initial subscribers, we created the most comprehensive course on ADD/ADHD Medications
available – Medication Mastery (you can get your copy of my f.ree 25 page report here: www.medicationmastery.com and also get your copy of the course)
3) Highlights from my personal life:
- I coached my daughter’s soccer team (I had never even played soccer – so it was a stretch – but
it was great – and my daughter and I had a fantastic time)
- My wife completed her treatment for breast cancer and is getting her strength back
- I lost 53 lbs (though, I have been gaining some back… so one of my new year’s goals it to
lose that extra weight…)
What were some highlights for you in 2007?
What were some accomplishments worth acknowledging and celebrating?
We are often so busy that we don’t take the time to acknowledge ourselves and/or our loved ones.
I invite you to share with our community here, and post your best experiences of ’07, or your
goals and plans for ’08 on my blog. You can do that here on the bottom of this blog post – just enter a comment.
Again, thank you for a great 2007 -and I look forward to working with you in 2008!
Happy new year!
Dr. Kenny
