Huey,

I'm sorry to hear that you are having problems with your sons medication. I'm in a similar predicament where my doctor was insisting that we stop Ritalan even when we never had any major side effects.

after several visits, we finally switched doctors and now my son is back on Ritalan. Unfortunately, our HMO won't cover so the difference has to come out of our pockets. But seeing my son getting a goods night sleep is well worth it.

Don't lose hope, Huey. Hang in there!

well 2011 and nothing much has changed here in New Zealand i have a 9 year old boy with ADHD and there isnt alot of support nor is there any alternatives to Ritalan or Rubifen. The Pharmacy made the choice to change the medication after taking Ritalin for 3years they had told me it had changed to Rubifen although the active ingredient is the same mythlphenidate there are obviously issues as he suffered with headaches and was moody often when on the rubifen, so i demanded the change back to ritalin.. in saying that i dont really like him on this drug but the Health system supports this style. i havent ever been offered any alternatives to it ......

OMG I am hopeful! Ritalin and Dex were disastrous for me. I have severe inattentive type ADD. I'm not sure I agree with what you say. At least I hope it is wrong. Stimulant medication is contraindicated in people who have an anxiety disorder as well as ADD. The stimulant makes the anxiety much worse. So that is the reason I could not tolerate the stimulants.
