Hi,
Thank you for your comments - and I made sure that you remained anonymous.
Despite the fact that a teen may be 'self medicating' while using marjuana, that doesn't make it OK.
It is still illegal and has many negative effects.
Helping someone relax, when he/she has ADHD may help a little, but the core deficits will still be there.
The one point that you didn't tell us - does this teen have a diagnosis of ADHD?
If so, some relaxation techniques may not be enough for someone who has ADHD and substance abuse.
Thanks for listening and commenting!

(accidentally hit the send button... I will continue) such as giddiness, and of course, the inhalation of the smoke is not the greatest thing in the world for his lungs either. I am going to bring in a Drama teacher who is also a Child Counselor, to see if she can impart some self-calming tehniques that would allow the student to relax, without medication. I'll let you know how I make out, but I recognize that in some cases, Ritlin should be used... I just think there are ways to minimize the need for it... I'll let you know how I make out....

(Please leave my name anonymous) I am a teacher who has had a hyper-active student arrive to class under the influence of what was more-than-likely THC or Canabus. I had to have hime suspended, but as you indicated in a earlier broadcast, the student could very likely have been legitimately attmpting to self-medicate himself, in an effort to take in the calming effects of thes drug, so that he could focus more on his academics... The downside is that the drug also produces other side-effects, such as giddiness a
