Asperger’s Stand Up Comedy

By Dr. Kenny Handelman

Comedy can be so healing… and it can break down the barriers for people. Hopefully, it can help to get past stigma, shame and other issues that people struggle with when it comes to mental health.

I recently came across an exceptional video from an outstanding young man who did a stand up comedy routine about his own Asperger’s Syndrome. His name is Michael, and he is 14 years old.

The amazing part – this is his own material…

Enjoy – and please share any thoughts or comments below:

Best,

Dr. Kenny

I’m sorry. I am unable to hear these videos. I’ve tried but there seems to be no sound. I know I did hear them before but they seem not to play for me now. Could they be printed? Nora Anderson

    • Hi Nora,
I’m sorry you can’t hear the video. The thing is that this video is on Youtube. I only link to the video on my blog. Unless they provide transcripts, we don’t have them on my blog. Maybe you can trouble shoot your computer?

Absolutely hilarious at a young age, and even more amazing by someone with asperger’s syndrome.

    This kid is great!
I have met other children with Asperger’s who are also very bright, and they tend to fit in and make friends when and where they sincerely want to. I think the sincerity should be as obvious as the “social awkwardness.”
Perhaps they just have no capacity for the artificial relationships most of us endure, at school or in business.
