My daughter started taking Metadate 30 mg in 1st grade and now she is in 8th grade. I've noticed in the last 2 years that she became very cranky/moody when on the medicine (sometimes on the weekends she wouldn't take it and that is when we would see a difference). The doctor switched her to Vyvanse 20 mg for a month and her attitude was much pleasant, but her grades in school began dropping, so the doctor increased the Vyvanse to 30 mg for a month. We still noticed a happier child, but grades were still dropping. It was at the end of the school year, so I can't tell if it was completely the medication or her just wanting to get school over with. I'm now wondering while she is out of school for the summer if I should try something else or have the doctor increase the medicine once again. Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated.

My son takes the 20mg metadate CD... he does awesome with it at school.

On the weekends he gets angry taking it as well as coming off of it after school. We are trying the Mithlyn (sp?) 5mg chewable for after school now as well

I am wondering why the pharmacist tells me that hardly anyone takes Metadate CD. Why is that?? Also, WHY is it so expensive compared to every other medication for this problem. Thanks.
