Time To Say Goodbye…
ByToday is my last day working at the Brampton Civic Hospital, at William Osler Health Centre. I am leaving for many reasons, though one of the biggest is that I will be working closer to home.
Yesterday, I uploaded a video to share my 2nd last day at the hospital with you. As this is a big life change, I wanted to share it with you.
On this video – you’ll see my (snowy) drive up to the hospital, and then a brief visit in my office.

Dear Dr Kenny,
I´m writing you from Rosario, Santa Fe, Argentina. First, let me tell you that all your info is very valuable for me, because I use it in my classes at the Faculty of Medical Sciences, where I teach Medical English to both students and professionals since 1999. And second, well, I think many things in life are more or less the same everywhere in the world… no matter if you are in the States, in Argentina, in India or somewhere in Africa… sometimes is the right time to say goodbye, but it is also the right time to start a new stage in life and you must take the challenge. So, all my best wishes in this your new start in your life, take the challenge and go ahead.

What an inspiration this video clip is to other practitioners who have to transition out of people’s lives. While we may not have the technology skills you do, I’ll bet we could find someone who does who could help us make transitions easier . Thanks for that window into life in Canada. With snowy roads like what is shown in your video, I can fully understand why you would want to shorten your commute! (I am writing this from the southern part of New York State, where only rain is reaching us right now.)
I hope this video starts a trend in professional leave-taking. When my favorite radio station, CD101.9, which played smooth jazz, turned to completely different music without any warning, I was shocked. So it’s a good idea for you to give your patients this heads-up!

Again, I am soooo glad your joining the Oakville team as my son and I meet with you at the end of this month. I was raised in Brampton and moved to Oakville about 12yrs ago. Our family doctor, and other specialists are still in Brampton and I have heard many horror stories from them of the “new” hospital. I love your blog and having the ability to be able to swap stories and info with others. It helps to know your not alone in the struggle.
I like it so much I am sitting in a hotel room in Kentucky reading it (we are on vacation).
I hope things go smoothly with coming to Oakville!

I just wanted to wish you well on your new adventures! It was such a pleasure to meet you and obtain your help for Alex. You have made a difference in our lives by seeing beyond Alex’s schizencephaly. He’s progressing well and enjoying his grade 4 year. His summer camp sessions with the City of Brampton brought many positive comments about his improvements since receiving your care (as well as Rosanna’s!!!).
