I would like to express my great gratitude for the existance of Vyvanse and my doctor's knowledge to prescribe this for me. I have tried Straterra, which worked for awhile, and then after 6 months began to be less effective. I took Asserall, which was effective, but put me on an edge that I couldn't maintain the rest of my life. I had intuition that that medication was "burning me up." I have been taking Vyvanse for 5 months and I am finding my old enthusiastic self again. It was so frustrating to not be able to stay on task and not be able to enjoy the completion of anything. I couldn't maintain any direction or even define one clearly. Thank goodness there is relief. Knock on wood.

This was the best place I could find to write about the April 21 talk I just listened to with you, Dr. Hallowell, and Blake Taylor. Very inspiring. Of all coincidences, I've been going through the process of diagnosis and treatment beginning just about 6 weeks ago. I always thought I was "a little ADD" but that I'd be OK through some self tough-love. Now in my late 30s with two preschoolers, things had just become overwhelming. Some of the fancy life-strategies I'd put in place in my 20s aren't working in my current job as a stay-at-home mom. (Can't wait to hear from Sari Solden) I'm so interested to begin focusing on my talents, and those of my son and daughter. (So excited to see what Kathy Kolbe has to say).

My question: Is there going to be a member's discussion area? Somewhere where we can feel a bit more connected to other listeners? Just a thought. Or if you know of a good resource for ADD moms, or newly diagnosed adults (who unfortunately are being treated the "old-fashioned" way), please send them my way.

A thousand thank yous!

I have written about a strengths based approach parents can use for telling their children about ADHD. You can check out my poem, Lucky me I Have ADD on my blog http://addtolife.typepad.com/weblog/
