As I see in all the posts, ADD is terrible. It has been a long running story. My son, 14yrs of age is suffering from it since he was 4 (maybe earlier). Diagnosed at 12yrs(kind of late. I guessed it at 9 but my spouse was in denial). He has a younger sister 5 and I am concerned about his influence on her. He does not treat her fair; she is only 5.
I tried to tell him for 3+yrs. He has become completely opposed to me. His mother (we are still in the same house but marriage fell apart yrs ago owing mainly to the ADD and her denial). He gets up whining or crying(!), slow at school, sucks enormous amount of time doing his homework (his mother helps him 2-3hrs/day) and lethargic. No discipline about health, work. He is begining to gain weight. He is begining to insult me, uses foul language/aggression towards me. I am at a loss. He is getting counselling help but no meds. I am not sure about the counsellor/counselling. I and my wife are not talking; which is not helping any of it!

DEAR Dr Handleman,

Well I have got Adhd child with asperges .I leave in Newzealand .
My little boy is now 9yrs old .Whenever I see things happening with my own eyes my hearts goes out for him.My son was diagnois at the age of 31/2 YRS.
In Newzealand I have try every specialist I can name and my child has been on diff medication but all have failed.
If I had a choice I would move today but sometime circumstanes does not permit .
Only thing I have since people taking advantage of parents like us .Telling all sorts of storys to make money.
Infact I have learn so much on my own .But in Newzealnd school system have failed.In mainstream principle and teachers make you feel that they are doing a favour to you by keeping your child .
Minister of education people have fail to support in system and wasting money.
They like to jump from one to other thing .But atleast I have never found a solution .Because only thing they will say short of funding.
I wish I can do more to help my child becaiue pain and suffering has been so much .Some I tell god why me and my child .Because I don’t remember when I selpt last peacefully.
I hope god helps my son for better life.We don’t any friends .Because in Newzealand people do make you feel if your child is diff.
Well life is sad and I have to fight everyday of my life to keep my child going.
I have not work for few years.Because when you try and find life I wonder how can one do this.
Becasue school can call you up at any time and say pick your child up.
So there is no justice in system parents like us.
I hope you can send me more help.

Being awarded a scholorship to the ADHD Medication Mastery course, would be an awsome blessing for our family. We have two grandchildren both of whom have been diagnosied with ADD/ADHD. Since being in our home full time due to the unexpected death of my daughter 4 years ago, we have researched every possible website, book, and article related to medications and behavior treatments that would allow both of these children a future of success. Both are on different medications, having tried through trial and error just about every one of the stimulents as well as Strettera. Being older than other parents of their ages, we understand the value that medications can play in how we work through solutions to their daily activities, therefore the more we learn, the better we will be able to help them. This course will hopefully provide many answers we desperately need on our journey.
