Win A Scholarship To The ADHD Medication Mastery Course
I am just in the process of launching my ‘ADHD Medication Mastery Course’. I have shared information with my readers and subscribers, and the response has been tremendous.
One of the questions that’s been asked relates to people who want access to this training (because they know it can help them so much…), but they are worried that the cost is a barrier.
I will remind you that if you register by Monday November 5th, you’ll qualify for an ‘early bird’ discount of $60.
But I was concerned that that may not be enough for everyone.
After a review with my team, we have come up with a plan:
We will award 3 FULL Scholarships to the course.
Here’s how it works:
- 3 scholarships will be awarded (i.e. no charge to you if you are awarded the scholarship)
- To qualify, you will need to scroll down, and post a comment on this specific article, explaining why you feel that you qualify to get the scholarship.
- Your comment must be submitted by Saturday night November 4th 2007 at 11:59 pm eastern time.
- My staff and I will review the applications, choose three winners, and announce them on Monday morning, by email, and on this blog.
- All decisions are final (i.e. you can’t appeal them), and the scholarships cannot be redeemed for money.
- By submitting your application, you agree to allow me to use your comments, name and location on my blog, website or emails.
You can find all of the details about the Medication Mastery Course here.
If you have already purchased your copy of the course, and you are awarded the scholarship, you will be refunded your tuition.
So, take a moment and type in your application below. (it will take a short while for your post to appear on the blog - as all comments are reviewed before being added to this blog).
And be sure to pass this along to any of your family or friends who may benefit from this course and this scholarship.
Dr. Kenny
p.s. in the ADHD Medication Mastery Course, you will get 13+ hours on ADD/ADHD Medication. This will improve your treatment for ADD/ADHD, improve your quality of life, and may even cut down on the costs of doctors visits!

I am a mom with three girls. This year has been my most difficult with my children. I had a child get severly sick and hospitalized for a month total! During this stressful time my middle daughter (10 years) who has been diagnosis with ADD really started to struggle from stress of me being gone. It was been a downward spiral that I just don’t feel I can get to the top of it again. We have tried many medications and I just don’t know what the right choice is and who the right physician for her is.
My youngest daughter (age 5) has all the same signs as my middle child. I am extremely scared to death! She not only show sighns but acts out very badly where my other daughter always looked like she wanted to but never did. I am at my wits end and feel like an extreme failure in the parenting world.
I have been todl that she is too young to treat or diagnose even though I have already done off of this before. The first time I thought I had a child gone bad with no return! Fortunatley I had a friend who suggested ADD/ADHD as a possible answer. At first I was mortified! What my child is not learning disabled. But you know what she is to some extent. She struggles in school, she struggles at home, she struggles in extra curricular activities, and she is frustrated. Who does she take out her frustration on? Me! The one that loves her most.
Please help our family. This nearly ruined my marriage when 4 years ago and we worked thru it but I feel the horrible stress of my family crumbling. I have been married to the father of the three children for almost 16 years, but ADD/ADHD is so hard to understand and to get help with. I am reaching out to you for myself and my family.
Thank you.

Dr. Handelman,
I have been caring for ADHD children for many years. I have not in the past 10 years got as much information as I have from your “drugs for ADHD” or your “audio newsletters.” I am excited to learn more of what you have to say…but…I am a single parent looking after 5 teen-age girls (4 of them with ADHD). Money is always an issue!! I want to and am excited to learn more but do not have the extra money for your fee. Your knowlege, transferred to me, would better enable me to deal with what I live with ,each and every day.
Sincerely,
Joyce Preston

I can not say that I deserve this any more then anyone else, but I want to learn as much as I can about medications and all info I can get on ADHD, my son was dignosed at the age of 3 and half , and also with ODD. He just turned 7 and I have been working so hard to help him adjust to things,,,socially and emotionally,,,he can get very angry it can be scary but with lots of patients and med’s that has calmed down alot…I just want to do what is best for my son,,YOur program sounds great, however I can not afford it at this time, I stay home with my children, and I am here when my son is dropped off on the special needs bus..I have family that has given me nothing but grief, but I just have to focus on my son,,and when they bring up something about med’s I really like to be able to support what I say,,cause I totally trust the professionals that work with him/us.
Not very good at expressing myself, but I have really learnt alot from you blog and emails..And I hope I can continue..Thanks

I was hoping to win a scholarship to this course for the fact that I have followed Dr. Handelman for a least a year now, have use what I’ve learned in behaviour modification and in medications to guide our doctor with my grandson’s treatment. He has severe ADHD and ODD and is a handfull for his Mom and us -his grandparents. It takes all of us plus relief staff (family members) to keep things together, and in part to Dr. Handelman’s help, we are succeding. We need to keep the momentum up, so as not to fail him and the right medication is a large part of that. We don’t have alot of resources here and this blog is a God send blessing, we need the help.
From a financial point of view — being on a disability pension from the nursing field doesn’t help all these extra costs things either.
Yours truly,
Sue

Professionally, I work with at-risk families in the public education system. Because I also have personally “walked the walk,” with a husband and three stepsons, all of whom have AD/HD, I strive to learn as much as I can and to try to be as current as possible regarding what research and experience can teach us. A large percentage of my clientele consists of parents who are just beginning the journey through evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment. Medication is always a huge issue, and many if not most of the parents have a great deal of fear, based upon inaccurate information, second hand negative experiences, etc. I feel a huge responsibility to provide accurate, current, helpful information so they can navigate the process, armed with sound information and questions to help them be active participants in their childrens’ (and sometimes their own) diagnoses and treatment. I have seen first hand in my own family just how successful people with AD/HD can be, and how gifted they are.

Dr. Handelman, I am a SAHM with 3 boys, the oldest of which just happens to have Down Syndrome, Hyperlexia, ADHD, OCD and some autistic tendencies thrown in just for added fun.
We have tried Adderall Xr, Concerta, Stratterra and are now using Focalin Xr (with some good results once we added Lexapro & Trazadone). I worry about the long term effects the medications will have on my son; however, I have seen a remarkable improvement on the medications. I truly want to learn as much as I can so that I can help my son live up to his full potential. During my early research stage, I began to realize that I exhibited many of the ADD traits and have often wondered if my son inherited this from me.
November 1st, 2007 at 10:44 pm
I ask that you award me the scholarship as I am an adult with ADD and have been struggling for sometime to get the right comjnation of medication. I am a Hospice Nurse and I love my job, but I am in danger of loosing my job, as I am being told that I have poor time management skills. I have read many books on organization and time management but I continue to have much difficulty staying focused and become too detailed trying to met my patient ’s and family’s needs. My Psychiatriast is now trying a combination of Adderal and an antidepresant. Long story short, my son, who also has ADD was recently discharged from the Air Force and he is having much difficulty coping with ADD and going through a divorce. Then there is my husband, who also has ADD, and is having much difficulty finding a job since he retired from the Air Force 11 years ago. He is dealing poor self esteem and resistant to using medication. So if I could take your course, three people could directly benefit. Please help save our family. May God Bless you for your continued work. Thanks. Debbie Seaton

I have 3 children with ADD/ADHD, anxieties and O.D.D. They are under 12 years. The 2 boys are on Staterra and we are modifying dosages right now and our daughter is on clonidine which we are also modifying for dosage. The older 2 have O.D.D. as well, and I would love some info on this co-existing condition. It is a significant challenge on a daily basis some days just to hold it together around them.
I am also a student, who has just gone back to school. With limited income for some time to come I will not be able to pay for a wonderful course like this, instead money will pay for food and meds. Please consider giving a scholarship to our family so we may all learn and benefit from this course. Thank you so much for the opportunity to enter.

Dear Dr. Kenny,
I have been looking at the advertisements you have sent on the scholarship.
You know that I have a real interest in the subject, not only because it
lies within the family (my daughter and I), but also because I am running a youth counselling centre ( Youth at HEART Development, a non-government organisation), where I counsel young people in crisis, free of charge and train people responsible for youth (e.g. teachers, members of youth organisations & institutions, professional -medical doctors, psychologists, etc. - and non-professional people). This means I have to raise funds through donations or contract work. Thus I would be interested in doing the
Medication Mastery Course, but do not have the means to pay for such tuition, at this moment in time.
Thank you very much for offering us the chance to learn from you. I have already gained very much.
Yours truly,
Dr Willem Semmelink

Dr. Handleman. I attended your talk in London and was impressed with you enthusiasm and enrgy regarding ADHD. I have been following your blog and posts for a while now. In a professional capacity, I am in a unique position to inservice an large number of Elementary and Secondary Teachers as well as students and parents of ADHD kids. I have done some research into strategies etc…. for school and homework etc. But the question that comes up over and over again is always related to meds. People seem reluctanct o even approach the idea, based on “horror” stories they have heard from friends etc. I would love to help dispel many of the myths out there and help provide these kids wit ha better shot at success, through education of their parents and educators.

Wow! I applaude your efforts in getting this latest-up-to-date information out into the hands and minds of people who desperately need it!
I am a Mom of two ADD sons, a personal, professional ADD life Coach and a successful woman with ADD.
My passion is educating others about ADD. There is so much information out there but unfortunately, not all of it is accurate. I have advocated for families in school systems and have seen parents being bullied and confused by our teaching professionals. I have sat in with parents in doctor’s offices and experienced their eyes glazing over, realizing their reluctance in asking questions for fear of looking “stupid.” I slow the doctors down and ask the questions for the parents.
Through the years, I’ve heard seemingly intelligent people say “I don’t believe in medication.” and I respond, “I wasn’t aware that it was a religious belief!” Many people are afrain of ADD meds and much of this fear is based on misinformation.
Many loving, caring parents are at the end of their rope. They have full time jobs, a house to run, no time for the multitude of appointments and no money for the medical bills. I hear so many moms and dads wanting to do their best but their financial and emotional resources have been exhausted.
Again, “kudo’s-to-you” Dr. Handelman! If I am fortunate enough to be awarded this scholarship, I will in turn teach and spread your knowledge through my coaching. My dream is to see a ripple effect of truth and compassion reach parents, teachers and medical professionals. Thank you for dropping your pebble in the big pond!

I would like to apply for the scholarship to the Medication Mastery Course.
I have been a fan for quite some time and have shared your website with others who are dealing with ADHD. I am also a current member of ADHD More. I have two sons under treatment. The oldest is ADHD and has just recently been diagnosed with bi-polar. We are in the process of adjusting medications. The other son is ADD and Dyslexic, but seems to be still struggling in school. They are both currently on Strattera. Neither one likes the way the other medications make them feel - like a zombie.
My job is being eliminated, which means I will be loosing my benefits as well, so I am concerned about paying for future treatments. I will probably also have to drop the ADHD More membership. I will continue to visit your website. You have provided me with so much helpful information. This knowledge has helped me understand and deal with my sons, as well as educate the school system. God Bless!

Dr. Handelman,
I am a single parent with 5 teenage girls, 4 of them with ADHD. I find your newsletters very informative and they are better enabling me to understand this disorder. I do understand medication plays a factor in dealing with these children. I do think I would benefit from this scholarship.

I am a mom of 3 boys on a very small income, I would like to win this Scholarship so I can learn more about ADHD, My son was diagnosed with ADHD 1 1/2 years ago and I have been talking to doctor after doctor and can not make heads or tails out of anything I have learned I have been told so many diffrent things between each visit that I am now so confused, I have so little faith in the doctors now because everyone tells you something diffrent.
I do not think my case is much diffrent then most peoples, I would just love to have the chance to learn all I can learn about this condition.

I’m a 66 year young adult, who is so rittled with adult ADD that it is all I can do to write this brief scholarship request without spending hours and getting lost…
My feelings of hopelessness and helplessness continues to escelate as I work with my psychiatrist and psychologist. Exactly one year ago I admitted myself into a psychiatric hospital (Thalians Mental Healt Center, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles) because I was severely depressed and suicidal with a very detailed plan.
I have lost my entire life savings, ruined my credit rating as the bills and the many stacks of mail remains unopened for five or six weeks, bill collectors that are relentless with their calls, landlord threatning eviction and the very likelyhood of loosing my precious Golden Retriever. This is a very definite bottom in my life! I have hit other bottoms as an alcholic and addict as a result of self medicating my undiagnosed adult ADD and resulting depression… sound familiar? I have been clean and sober in AA for almost two years this time around. I was a part of the passing parade of relapsers in AA for over 20 years. My periods of sobriety during this time varied from 5 years, 2 years and the increasingly shorter periods of sobriety as the relapse years continue to add up. In spite of my love for AA and the fellowship, being of service as a secetary of meetings, taking meeting committments such as working with newcomers, making coffee, setting up meetings, cleaning up after meetings, etc. and passionately working the 12 steps with wonderful sponsors direction. Currently my sponsor is pays very close attention to the slightest possibility of addiction to ADD/ADHD medications
I’m currently taking Adderall (Ampehtamine Salts) 10mg X3 daily and Wellbutrin 200 XR x2 daily. My depression is better, but my world increasingly continues to fall apart and getting very little relief from ADD medicatios.

Dear Dr. Handelman,
My “story” is not much different than many others, in that I would love to take the course, however I just cannot afford to do so at this time, plain and simple.
My son has recently started seeing you, as well as myself. The few appointments we have had have been amazing! I have poured over websites and books since my son was diagnosed and I cannot seem to get enough information. I want to be as well educated as I can be, for both myself and my son. It isn’t enough just to go to the doctor and be told “here, take this:” or “do this” I want to know why, I want to know of alternatives. I want to know all of my choices.
Ever since my son was diagnosed with both ADHD and learning disabilities, I have made this my passion. I am finding that the schools, my family doctor, my pediatrician and society, do not understand and are just not educated enough on the subject. I am constantly having to advocate for my son and the more I know, the more effective I can be.
I am convinced that this course would be most beneficial and have been trying to figure out how I could financially make it work but the lump sum is just not feasable right now or I would have signed up the day I received the email!
In closing, I think it is wonderful that you are offering this course and the scholorships. Thank you and you staff for taking the time to consider these.

Hi,
I am a stay at home daycare provider with two of my own children. My son who is turning 11, Dec 1st has been diagnosed with ADHD since the age of 7. I have recently started attending a support group with HOPE and have become an advocate for my child. I feel like he is slipping through the school system and I will, with everything in me, try to change that. I have looked into getting a guest speaker to come in to the school to educate the teachers….I have read every article I can get my hands on……I have signed up for emails with you…….but just when I think I have a handle on things……bang, something else happens.
It would be wonderful if you decided to choose us for the scholarship, as I am at my wits end and just do not know where to turn anymore. It’s sad to say, but doctors & teachers need to take more time and consideration on learning about this issue.
I have made a new goal for myself. It is to educate the school system on learning about ADHD and some strategies that they can use with the kids. They are very bright and to just toss them to the wayside, does not sit with me well. We have young teachers without children of their own, who are teaching our children and you can’t tell me that during the course of their teaching education, this issue was talked about. I’m going to change that. How, I’m not sure yet. That is why I am confident that your information would help me begin my new adventure. Not only helping my son along the way, but all the other kids who are slipping through the system.
Please consider my application for the scholarship and I thank you for all your emails and information you are providing to the public.

Hello
I am the step mother of 2 children. The 6 year old boy was just diagnosed with ADHD and the 7 year old girl is having symptons of ADD too. I was just diagnosed with ADHD myself. And my mother has Adult ADD too. So, I am around ADD/ADHD everyday. I have a “seeker of knowledge” personality. I like looking for information on everything and using my knowledge for good. I would love to take the course and tell others (like my mom, my boyfriend and the kid’s mother and the kid’s teachers) techniques and information of ADD/ADHD.
In addition to all of this, I have a teaching degree in EC:SE, Pre-K through 3rd grade. This means I am educated in Special needs children. I have always been fascinated by children with Autism and ADD/ADHD.
Thanks for considering me.
November 4th, 2007 at 12:26 am
I am the parent of an 11 year old boy that is ADHD and also adult with ADHD. I want to take this course to help my son and myself. On the advice of my own primary care doctor, who told me to become an expert on my medical conditions. I find my doctors are more willing to talk with me in depth, when I can speak their language. I also think that doctors appreciate a patient that does the research and can work as a health team member instead of putting it all in the doctor’s hands.
I too would love to be able to afford this course, because I know the value of it. I work as parent educator teaching those courses to parents (for free), that are largely dependent on grant funds. This website has already given me a wealth of knowledge that I am embarrassed to ask for me
November 4th, 2007 at 12:57 am
Dear Dr. Handelman,
As I’m writing in the last possible hour before the application deadline (classic ADD trait:), I want to thank you for your website and for the opportunity to get a clearer perspective on ADD medications and other available options.
I have experienced first hand the unpreparedness of medical establishment to get to the root of the problem. While completing my university degree I could not bring myself to finishing the final paper, and had to drop out of school for a while, consequently falling into a prolonged depression. A year and many book later I realised that ADD was the culprit, and the depression - just the natural progression of this untreated condition. And, of course, the ADD test supported my hunch and I started taking Ritalin (about 6 years ago). Almost immediately I noticed a marked improvement in many areas of my life, especially in academics and in my social life. Unfortunately, recently I started having heart palpitations and significantly increased heart rate, so I had to get off the medications. Strattera did not work for me, and, before trying anything else, I would love to take the Medication Mastery course.
The funny thing about the whole ADD experience - both the enjoyment of life and the ability to perform is very uneven. Sometimes I’m very eloquent, with tons of brilliant ideas and increased productivity levels; at other times I can barely compose two sentences. Of course, these other times are very frustrating, because, on the back of your mind there is always the memory of a “better self”. I remember reading in “Delivered from distraction” that one of the most important antidotes to this condition if having meaningful connections with others. In this day and age, who wouldn’t benefit from such a thing? I am originally from Ukraine and now I live in New Brunswick, Canada. The biggest diference between these two cultures is the level of connection and openness between people. I have not been diagnosed as a child with ADD, and I graduated at the top 2% of the school. I often wonder if the social isolation and conservative attitudes of my current location have somehow influenced the progression of ADD…
If I’m able to get my “better self” back again, I would love to share the knowledge I’ve learned here, and through my own research with people around me. There is obviosly a great need in our communities for people not only to get better educated about this condition, but also learn to thrive with it! (I really hope so)

Hi Dr. Handelman,
I’m a student who is currently in the process of being treated for ADHD. I have been a regular reader of your blog for some time now as well as a listener of your radio shows.
In the past, I had always performed well in grade school, but when I got into high school, my grades dropped considerably. I have always had a problem with inattention related symptoms, but because of my lack of hyperactivity, I must have flown under the radar. While it might have been better for me to be diagnosed early, I still have time to get my life back on track.
The information I could learn from your Medication Mastery program could greatly influence my treatment for the better, as from what I have found, when both the doctor and patient are both informed and can speak on the same level, so much more is accomplished.
Thank you for the opportunity, I appreciate all your contributions to the ADHD sufferers worldwide.

Being awarded a scholorship to the ADHD Medication Mastery course, would be an awsome blessing for our family. We have two grandchildren both of whom have been diagnosied with ADD/ADHD. Since being in our home full time due to the unexpected death of my daughter 4 years ago, we have researched every possible website, book, and article related to medications and behavior treatments that would allow both of these children a future of success. Both are on different medications, having tried through trial and error just about every one of the stimulents as well as Strettera. Being older than other parents of their ages, we understand the value that medications can play in how we work through solutions to their daily activities, therefore the more we learn, the better we will be able to help them. This course will hopefully provide many answers we desperately need on our journey.

Minister of education people have fail to support in system and wasting money.
They like to jump from one to other thing .But atleast I have never found a solution .Because only thing they will say short of funding.
I wish I can do more to help my child becaiue pain and suffering has been so much .Some I tell god why me and my child .Because I don’t remember when I selpt last peacefully.
I hope god helps my son for better life.We don’t any friends .Because in Newzealand people do make you feel if your child is diff.
Well life is sad and I have to fight everyday of my life to keep my child going.
I have not work for few years.Because when you try and find life I wonder how can one do this.
Becasue school can call you up at any time and say pick your child up.
So there is no justice in system parents like us.
I hope you can send me more help.
